Well drawn characterizations and description of life
The Overcoat is one of Gogol’s later short stories and much more grounded in reality than some of his earlier work, but still has a little of the fantastical in it. It is a satiric indictment on the bureaucracy of the times with a lovely moral to the story of being kind and showing compassion to others.
